For many, the end of the year is an opportunity to relax and celebrate the start of the new year in style. It’s a time for prosecco and fireworks; a time for resolutions and bonding with family. For marketers, however, the start of the new year is a chance to start thinking about new year marketing campaigns and how we can improve our activities in the year ahead.
While everyone else is shutting up shop mid-December, marketers and salespeople are thinking about what can be done to deliver more value to prospects, leads and customers over winter and into the new year.
A little marketing activity over the winter season and into the new year can help to generate more interest in your business and provide more value to your prospects and customers. You may lack the marketing budget of a big business, but you can use simple methods to reach new and existing customers.
1. Review your Target Customer
Use this period to review your target clients and the key personas you are targeting.
Has anything changed? Has your business changed and are you now targeting a slightly different client? Or has your client changed? Perhaps they are using different social media channels now? Or have changed the time of day they are active?
It does not need to be a major change. Even a small change can make a big difference to your marketing message or even your marketing approach.
Update your client profile and make sure your marketing is a hit for 2023.
2. Review your CRM database
Keeping your CRM system up to date by cleaning out old data and removing old contacts will ensure that you are getting the most out of your CRM system. It might even end up saving you some money!
Before you remove anything make sure to back-up the data, just in case you get a bit too carried away with the clean! At least then any accidental deletes can be reversed. After you are done backing-up your data you can go through the user list and remove any old users that might no longer work for your company or who no longer use the CRM system. Now you are ready to start going through your system!
A. Remove contacts that you no longer have contact details for
B. Delete old and outdated data
C. Delete any old email templates
D. Identify any workflows or automations that aren’t needed anymore
E. Has any of your data reached its maximum storage time as dictated by GDPR rules?
3. Run an end of year report
Run an end of year report for all your key marketing metrics. The annual metrics can be used to both review your performance against expectations but also to set the baseline for what you want to achieve in the year ahead.
Think about:
A. Website visitors
B. New customers
C. RepeatCustomers
