It is an undeniable fact that a marketing strategy is the key to success.
But once you have this, how do you get the ball rolling? What’s next? How do you plan on actually implementing your marketing strategy?
If these questions are making you feel a little uneasy - don’t worry, you’ve come to the right place!
After putting together the perfect plan for your marketing strategy, it would be a colossal disaster (not to be dramatic!) to watch it all come tumbling down after a few social media posts.
Which is why, although a marketing strategy is key, your marketing execution plan is too.
Here are our top tips for executing your marketing strategy.
Build your team
Do you have a team behind you? Or are you flying solo?
Either is fine, but work out how you’re going to implement the effort and spread the workload.
By planning out who will be doing what you will create accountability (either by making yourself accountable or your team).
You will also be implementing consistency - which is at the heart of any successful marketing strategy.
Map it out
Your marketing strategy needs a plan of attack - the key word being ‘plan’.
Develop a marketing calendar and map out your strategy and any milestone goals you would like to achieve.
You need to build a detailed project timeline. Aim to break up the strategy into smaller and more manageable tasks and deadlines.
This will help create structure around your marketing strategy and help you stay on track.
Within your calendar you should also budget time for researching and developing new materials - so your marketing plan has longevity and is always looking fresh!
Monitor and track your effort
You can’t manage what you don’t measure.
By setting up tracking tools you will be able to find out what is working and, more importantly, what isn’t.
At this stage, you might be thinking… Well, what exactly do I measure and track?
Think back to your marketing strategy goals, your overall business objectives and your key performance indicators (KPIs), and ask yourself - are you meeting these?
Through tracking and monitoring, you will be able to stay focused and make adjustments where needed.
We want to stress how important it is to do all of the above regularly.
Once you’ve decided how you want to track and monitor your marketing efforts, you should aim to have a check-in either weekly or monthly, and then be prepared to be flexible, and adapt and tweak accordingly.
Remember to also celebrate any milestones (big or small!) as it will help create momentum for your business.
Ready, set, execute
Once you have created your marketing execution plan you will be able to set up your marketing strategy for success, leading you to move from strategy to results!
